Ever since LightBox was out we have seen a slew of different versions. Ryan Lowe has created LITBox. Why?
So with all of the light/thick/whatever-box methods out there today, why would I build my own… because I wasn’t all that thrilled with the other ones out there. Don’t get me wrong, LITBox is not perfect, but for what I am developing at SpinWeb, it is the best fit. Probably the biggest advantage of the LITBox, is that it is a lightbox written into a class. This gives it the ability to open multiple instances of the LITBox and be able to control each one with unique settings and controls.

A Win32 installer for Evolution is out. Evolution is an incredibly versatile PIM client that took the Linux world by storm. It has been called an ‘Outlook replacement’ by every tech site from ZDNet to InfoWorld. It is able to connect to Microsoft Exchange and schedule/accept Microsoft Outlook Meetings. It’s GPL, so have fun and spread it around!

Now more than ever, you might want to encrypt your email to protect it from prying eyes. Not only do we have government snoops mining vast amounts of data on the net and an ever-increasing number of companies monitoring their employees’ email, but phishing and other email scams increase by the day.

Microsoft’s delay with the release of Windows Vista has left enough wiggle room for other players to pursue the desktop operating system market. An old Microsoft rival, Novell, is angling to seize the day with the release of SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 10, a desktop OS geared to beat Vista in cost, manageability and features.

The Open Web Application Security Project released a helpful document that lists what they think are the top ten security vulnerabilities in web applications.
These vulnerabilities can, of course, exist in PHP applications. Here are some tips on how to avoid them. I’ve included related links and references where relevant.

Many exciting new functions and features are being thought up for CSS3. I will try and showcase some of them on this page, when they get implemented in either Firefox, Opera or Safari/Webkit.

Screengrab saves entire webpages as images.
Just install it, make sure Java is configured (Java absolutely necessary), and right-click on a page.

This is an excellent plugin. I highly recommend it. Have already tested it out on a few pages an worked very well.
Go grab it!
