Many Microsoft Windows users who downloaded the recently released AntiSpyware program from Microsoft, or had it installed through an automatic Windows update, woke up to a surprise. Unintentionally, the heuristics of the software detected Internet Explorer as spyware, and removed the program from their systems.

One of the most dominant themes in technology recently has been the centrality of the computer. Rather than just being used for word processing and browsing the internet, the computer has become the tool we use to listen to music, watch movies, play video games, and much more. Of all these, the segment where this is best demonstrated is in communications. Not only has email become most people’s preferred means of communicating, but the computer, through VOIP, has started to replace the telephone.

I use a modded Xbox and Xbox Media Center for playing media files across the network on my television and sound system. I also download large files, such as Linux ISOs, via BitTorrent. However, leaving my primary computer on all the time seemed like a waste of energy. I wanted a cheap, small headless machine that I could use as a Samba server and BitTorrent client so I could leave my workstation off when I wasn’t using it.

If you ever tried to install Windows Vista RC2 in VMWare you might almost certainly failed due to the fact that Vista did not recognize VMWare’s ISO emulation. But there is a little trick I found after some experiments to overcome this issue.
