In response to criticism from Linux enthusiasts, Asus has made additional source code archives available for download with code for the asus_acpi module, BusyBox, and several other components. The code released by Asus brings the company into compliance with its obligations under the GPL and should satisfy most of the critics.

You don’t need a complicated boot CD or expensive software to create a restorable system disk image for your PC: free utility DriveImage XML can save a full, working snapshot of your Windows hard drive while you work on it. With it, imaging your PC’s hard drive is a matter of a few clicks, no reboots required.

I’ve been lusting after very-small-form-factor laptops for some time (ever since I saw the Zaurus C series), and this is quite the small one. It also ships with Linux, which (I thought) was a good indication that the hardware is well supported by Linux. (Not so; read on.)

These past few days I’ve been giving tips on how to recover passwords from your browser. Out of all the tips, I think this is the best! It doesn’t require any software to reveal hidden passwords under asterisks and don’t need to waste your time in cracking master password.

ome awesome news out of Manhattan today. CBS Corporation has announced today that it will “light up” midtown Manhattan with the creation of the “CBS Mobile Zone,” a wireless high-speed network enabling New Yorkers with Wi-Fi-enabled cell phones, laptops or other devices to access the Internet for free, and make voice over internet (VOI) calls.
